ALAVs at the Beall Center

Last week I visited the ALAVs at the Beall Center for Art + Technology at UC Irvine. These little creatures are so charming! They aren’t so smart, but they do learn about the other ALAVs around them. They have sensors that allow them to communicate with one another and with a ‘food’ pod that a human can carry around. And you can call them on the phone, too. The docent in the Beall Center who introduced us to them says they each have their own personality. Some like to be with the group, some like to move away. Onelikes to light up two lights on its tail. It was so cool to interact with these. They are like pets.
